Last Thursday (21 September), Digital Cinema Media (DCM) had the pleasure of attending the grand unveiling of the recently refurbished Reel Cinema in Burnley.

The entire complex has been given a new look, with all nine screens gutted and refitted with new seats and carpets. All screens have premier seating as standard with more legroom and there are also new Premier and VIP lounges.

There is also an upgraded foyer with revamped food and drink concessions including a new licensed bar. The beautifully designed foyer includes digital screens showcasing the latest film times, trailers and cinema offers, and a comfortable seating area.

The opening was endorsed by the Major of Burnley, Cllr Howard Baker, and MP Jack Straw - who both gave impassioned speeches about the commitment and contribution Reel has made to the local community.

Furthermore, Steve Reynolds, Owner of Four Seasons Entertainment; Naveen Suri, MD of Reel Cinemas, and Klash Chander ‘KC’ Suri, Reel Cinemas Chain Owner, all said a few words thanking everyone from partners, team members and Mrs Suri for their help and support. The refurbishment will create 25 new jobs.

Guests were also treated to a special showing of Kingsman: The Golden Circle as part of the event.

Steven Davis, Exhibition Director, DCM said: “Naveen and the team have done a superb job of renovating this site. With more refurbs and site launches planned in 2018 and beyond, we’re excited about what the future holds and look forward to continuing to work closely with Reel Cinemas.”

Naveen Suri, MD, Reel Cinemas added: “‘Reel is delighted to be continuing our long-standing partnership with DCM. From top to bottom DCM’s clear proposition and automated operating model ensure that we can maximise revenue easily.’

Reel Cinemas currently have 15 cinemas across the UK, and at their heart remain a true local, family owned, independent cinema operator. Reel Cinemas is one of the largest independent cinema exhibitors in the UK, and have exciting plans to grow organically over the next five years, with at least 10 new cinemas opening in selected locations nationwide.
