The Kings Cinema has now opened in Kingsbridge. The cinema is part of Merlin Cinemas group who recently took over the operation of the Reel cinema from the previous operators Phil and Sue Pritchard, who ran and developed the business at the popular local cinema for the last fifteen years.
The new cinema now brings the number of cinemas being operated by Merlin Cinemas in the Devon and Cornwall area to 12. Merlin Cinemas will be bringing some new offers and opportunities to the local cinemagoers of Kingsbridge, among which they are looking to introduce Event Cinema screenings, starting on 26 August with Othello being beamed live to the cinema screen from the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Geoff Greaves, Director of Merlin Cinemas, said: ‘We are very excited at taking over this lovely cinema from Phil and Sue who have done such a great job building this business and bringing the latest films to Kingsbridge, we wish them a very happy and well deserved retirement and we will do our very best to keep up all the good work they have done providing a small town like Kingsbridge with such an important facility.’
