The nominations for the 91st Academy Awards have been announced, with Oscar nominated film titles adding more value for brands this Awards Season.
Off the back of the nominations and armed with the knowledge that daily admissions on the DCM estate were 14% higher than average for the days between the 2018 Oscar Nominations (24 January) and Oscar Ceremony (4 March)*, Digital Cinema Media (DCM) is offering a special 2019 Awards Season deal - a bespoke Film Package bundle that features eight Oscar nominated titles, making up a huge 2.5m admissions this February. The eight titles are Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary Poppins Returns, The Favourite, Mary, Queen Of Scots, Vice, Green Book, Can You Ever Forgive Me? and If Beale Street Could Talk. Read on below to find out how they fared this Awards Season.
The nominations
Roma and The Favourite both lead the way with 10 nominations, including Best Picture. A Star is Born and Vice both have eight nominations, closely followed by Black Panther with seven.
Also nominated for Best Picture are Black Panther, BlacKKKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star Is Born, Vice and Green Book.
Golden Globes winner Glenn Close and Melissa McCarthy lead a Best Actress category which also features first Oscar nominations for Lady Gaga (A Star is Born), Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), who is nominated for her first screen role.
Christian Bale leads a Best Actor line-up which also features Golden Globe winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate) and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book).
The Best Director category is hotly contested between Spike Lee (BlacKKKlansman), Pawel Pawlikowski (Cold War), Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite), Alfonso Cuaron (Roma), and Adam McKay (Vice).
The 2017 (Mahershala Ali) and 2018 (Sam Rockwell) winners of Best Supporting Actor both receive nominations in 2019, and are also joined by Adam Driver (BlacKKKlansman), Sam Elliot (A Star Is Born) and Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).
The Favourite receives two Best Supporting Actress nominations (Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz), a category which also sees Amy Adams, Marina de Tavira and Regina King receive nods.
Disney are as always well represented in the Best Animated Feature category, with Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks The Internet receiving competition, but have strong competition from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Isle of Dogs and Mirai.
The winners of the 2019 Academy Awards will be announced on 24 February.
