2022’s Awards Season is in full swing with the 79th Golden Globes taking place yesterday (Sunday 9 January).
Steven Spielberg's remake of the classic 1961 movie West Side Story dominated the musical/comedy categories, winning best picture, best actress for Rachel Zegler and best supporting actress for Ariana DeBose.
The Power Of The Dog was named best drama film, with Jane Campion awarded best director and Kodi Smit-McPhee best supporting drama actor.
Will Smith was named best actor in a drama for King Richard while Nicole Kidman took home the award for best actress in a drama for Being The Ricardos.
Other winners included Japan’s Drive My Car as best film not in the English language, Encanto for best animated feature, No Time to Die for best original song, Dune for best original score and Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast for best screenplay, which comes to UK cinemas on 21 January.
The event took place at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, with no stars or audience and the results announced via social media.
This year’s Oscar nominations are due to be announced on 8 February, with the ceremony taking place on 27 March.
