2023 BFI London Film Festival: Full Line up Announced

The BFI London Film Festival has announced its full line up of films for 2023.

Now in its 67th year, the festival will run from Wednesday 4 to Sunday 15 October at venues in London, around the UK and on the BFI Player.

Having announced the Opening, Closing and American Express Gala films earlier this month, the Headline Gala films for this year’s Festival are:

All of Us Strangers - directed by Andrew Haigh, starring Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, Jamie Bell and Claire Foy.

The Bikeriders – directed by Jeff Nichols, starring Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon and Mike Faist. The Bikeriders is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 1 December 2023.

The Book of Clarence – directed by James Samuel, starring LaKeith Stanfield, Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, James McAvoy and Anna Diop. The Book of Clarence will be showing in UK cinemas from 19 January 2024.

The Killer – directed by David Fincher, starring Michael Fassbender, Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Sophie Charlotte and Tilda Swinton.

Killers of the Flower Moon – directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons. Killers of the Flower Moon will be showing in UK cinemas from 20 October 2023.

Maestro – directed by Bradley Cooper, starring Carey Mulligan, Bradley Cooper, Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke and Sarah Silverman.

May December – directed by Todd Haynes, starring Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton. May December is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 17 November 2023.

NYAD – directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, starring Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin.

Poor Things – directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, starring Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef. Poor Things will be showing in UK cinemas from 12 January 2024.

The Cunard Gala film has been announced as The Holdovers – directed by Alexander Payne and starring Paul Giamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Dominic Sessa. The Holdovers will be showing in UK cinemas from 19 January 2024.

And the Mayor of London’s Gala film has been announced as Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget – directed by Sam Fell and starring Thandiwe Newton, Zachary Levi, Bella Ramsey, Imelda Staunton and Lynn Ferguson. This triumphant return for Aardman’s beloved creations comes twenty years after the original Chicken Run.
