The BFI London Film Festival has announced its full line up of films for 2024.
The Festival, now in its 68th year, will run from Wednesday 9 to Sunday 20 October at venues in London, around the UK and on the BFI Player.
The highly anticipated Headline Gala films for this year’s Festival are:
Anora - directed by Sean Baker, starring Mikey Madison, Mark Eydelshteyn and Paul Weissman. Anora is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 1 November.
The Apprentice – directed by Ali Abbasi, starring Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong and Maria Bakalova. The Apprentice is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 18 October.
Bird – directed by Andrea Arnold, starring Nykiya Adams, Barry Keoghan and Franz Rogowski. Bird is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 8 November.
Conclave – directed by Edward Berger, starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow. Conclave is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 29 November.
Emilia Pérez – directed by Jacques Audiard, starring Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez.
Maria – directed by Pablo Larraín, starring Angelina Jolie, Valeria Golino and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
Nightbitch – directed by Marielle Heller, starring Amy Adams, Scoot McNairy and Zoë Chao.
The Room Next Door – directed by Pedro Almodóvar, starring Tilda Swinton, Julianne Moore and John Turturro. The Room Next Door is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 25 October.
Outside of the Headline Galas, Steve McQueen’s Blitz will open the Festival at the Opening Night Gala. The film, set in the Second World War, stars Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson and Benjamin Clémentine.
The film playing the Closing Night Gala will be Piece by Piece, directed by Morgan Neville. The film chronicles the life of cultural icon Pharrell Williams through LEGO animation. The voice cast include Williams himself, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani and more. Piece By Piece is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 8 November.
Elton John: Never Too Late, directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, will play the American Express Gala.
The BFI Patrons’ Gala film will be Hard Truths, directed by Mike Leigh, and starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Michele Austin and David Webber.
The Cunard Gala film will be Joy, directed by Ben Taylor, and starring Thomasin McKenzie, James Norton and Bill Nighy.
That Christmas, directed by Simon Otto, will play the Family Gala, starring Brian Cox, Bill Nighy and Jodie Whittaker.
We Live In Time, directed by John Crowley, and starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, will play The Mayor of London’s Gala. We Live In Time is scheduled to play in UK cinemas from 1 January 2025.
