2024 Oscars Nominations Announced

The nominations for the 96th Oscars were announced this afternoon, Tuesday 23 January 2024. Zazie Beetz (Bullet Train, Deadpool 2) and Jack Quaid (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) revealed the nominations via a live broadcast.

Christopher Nolan’s historical drama Oppenheimer received the most Academy Award nominations with 13 in total, including Best Picture, Directing and Adapted Screenplay. Cillian Murphy was nominated for Actor in a Leading Role, Robert Downey Jr. for Actor in a Supporting Role, and Emily Blunt for Actress in a Supporting Role.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things recorded the second-most nominations with a total of 11, also including Best Picture, Directing and Adapted Screenplay. Emma Stone was nominated for Actress in a Leading Role and Mark Ruffalo in Actor in a Supporting Role.

Shortly behind Poor Things is Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which received a total of 10 nominations. These include Best Picture, Directing and Actress in a Leading Role for Lily Gladstone.

The highest-grossing film of 2023, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, was nominated for eight Oscars in total, including Best Picture, Actor in a Supporting Role for Ryan Gosling and Actress in a Supporting role and America Ferrera.
