September has historically been the quietest month for cinema but not this year. Due to the large number of films ready for release, this September is packed with big titles, including two big superhero films, a spectacular sci-fi epic, and the much-anticipated, long-awaited final outing as Bond for Daniel Craig, which is forecast to deliver 17 ABC1 Adults TVRs and 21 ABC1 Men TVRs.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Marvel film on the big screen but after Black Widow in July, the next one is in fewer than two months later in September and focusses on Shang-Chi, who is drawn into the clandestine Ten Rings organization and is forced to confront the past he thought he left behind. Marvel have had huge success launching new characters on the big screen and the success of WandaVision and Falcon And The Winter Soldier on Disney+ have shown that the public still can’t get enough of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Target audience: 16-34 Men
Director: Andy Serkis
Cast: Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Naomie Harris
Release date: 15 September
Est. DCM admissions: 1.2m
Alcohol: YES
HFSS: YES
Tom Hardy had a ton of fun in Venom, so it’s no surprise that he’s returned for this sequel, which is directed by Andy Serkis. Set over a year after the events of the first film, Eddie Brock struggles to adjust to life as the host of the alien symbiote Venom, who gives him super-human abilities to act as a lethal vigilante. Brock attempts to reignite his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, who also becomes the host of a symbiote and escapes prison after a botched execution. 16-34 men loved Venom. They’ll love Venom: Let There Be Carnage too.
Dune
Target audience: ABC1 Men
Director: Denis Villeneuve
Cast: Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem
Release date: 17 September
Est. DCM admissions: 1m
Alcohol: YES
HFSS: YES
With Arrival and Blade Runner 2049, Denis Villeneuve proved himself a master of sci-fi. For his latest project he’s taking on Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy. The cast list is insane and big screen spectacle is unlikely to get much bigger in 2021.
No Time To Die
Target audience: ABC1 Adults
Director: Cary Fukunaga
Cast: Daniel Craig, Lea Seydoux, Ana De Armas, Rami Malek
Release date: 30 September
Est. DCM admissions: 5.5m

We have been waiting for this one for a while and the wait is nearly over. Daniel Craig’s final outing as the iconic secret agent sees James Bond, having left active service, asked by an old friend for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology. It would be the biggest film of the year in almost any year and 2021 is no different. With a huge, captive audience whose excitement will be at fever pitch having waited so long to see it, it represents the AV opportunity of 2021.
