Alice in Wonderland continued her reign as queen of the box office at the weekend. Taking more than twice as much as second-placed Bounty Hunter, Alice In Wonderland’s popularity also contributed to box office takings for the top 15 films up an outstanding 71% on the same weekend last year. Gerard Butler and Jennifer Anniston helped Bounty Hunter to its solid debut total of £2.1m.
Meanwhile, comedy drama movie I Love You Philip Morris, starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, surpassed expectations to gross more than £1m in its opening weekend. Martial arts action comedy film The Spy Next Door, starring Jackie Chan, also got off to a good start, grossing just under £700,000.
