The winners of the 87th Academy Awards have been announced and, after a competitive awards season, Birdman took home the top honours, winning Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Director, while British actor Eddie Redmayne won the Best Actor Oscar for The Theory of Everything and Julianne Moore picked up Best Actress award for her performance in Still Alice. The Grand Budapest Hotel also won four awards, with Whiplash taking home three of the much-coveted gongs.

In January, Digital Cinema Media (DCM) launched its 2015 Fantasy Film League, pitting contenders against each other and testing the knowledge and prowess of film fans in media land by asking people to predict who they thought would win at the Oscars, and the results are now in!

Last year’s FFL saw the top 10 entrants each score a perfect 10 out of 10. However, this year no single entrant was 100% accurate, with only the top eight entrants receiving a score of eight out of 10 or above, highlighting how much more open this year’s Oscars were and the remarkable slate of films that were showcased at this year’s ceremony.

There were over 300 entrants across the industry and we’re pleased to announce that Dan Keat, Director of Investment from m/SIX came out top, with a remarkable score of nine out of 10. Dan not only walks away with the DCM Fantasy Film League title, but also a Red Carpet experience!

The top 10 list, which is made up of a range of media owners and industry bodies, looks like this:

  1. 1. Dan Keat, m/Six
  2. 2. Ross Murray, Carat
  3. 3. Belinda Beeftink, IPA
  4. 4. Anna Breslauer, MEC
  5. 5. James McGregor, MediaCom
  6. 6. Kirsty Ogilvie, MediaCom
  7. 7. Daisy Crook, Starcom
  8. 8. Jo Juan-Gardiner, Val Morgan
  9. 9. Dan Taylor, Channel 4
  10. 10. Robert Karlsson, Dolby Europe Ltd

The top five best represented media agencies were Carat, MEC, MediaCom, OMD and Total Media, with MEC amassing the best average score of five out of 10.
