"Effortlessly beautiful & poignant, Till tells the heart-breaking true story of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old boy murdered in a racial attack in Mississippi in the 50s and how his courageous mother fought to bring attention to his case and the rights of black Americans across the country. It would be seriously remiss not to see Danielle Deadwyler, who plays Mamie Till-Mobley, nominated for numerous accolades next year – the pain she brings to the role is felt continuously throughout the 2-hour runtime whilst the cinematography pits the beauty of the 50s aesthetic against the horror of the politics of the time. Chinonye Chukwu’s film never shy’s away from the horrific brutality but never in a means to exploit – she only serves to educate and inform and does so in one of the standout films of the festival."
