Cinema is back in a big way. Since reopening on 17 May, key films have smashed all expectations at the box office, while audience numbers have bounced back quickly to pre-pandemic levels.

Fast & Furious 9 became the first Hollywood movie to surpass $500m in global ticket sales post-Covid, while Black Widow hit cinemas last week and delivered the biggest box office opening in the pandemic era. People still love to watch new content on the big screen!

Looking forward to the coming months, there is still a stellar film slate ahead, with plenty of opportunities for brands to maximise the power of cinema to reach the 16-34, family and ABC1 audiences.

Here are just some of the highlights in July, August and September. Don’t miss your chance to get involved.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Marvel film on the big screen but after Black Widow in July, the next one is in fewer than two months later in September and focusses on Shang-Chi, who is drawn into the clandestine Ten Rings organization and is forced to confront the past he thought he left behind. Marvel have had huge success launching new characters on the big screen and the success of WandaVision and Falcon And The Winter Soldier on Disney+ have shown that the public still can’t get enough of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Target audience: 16-34 Men

Director: Andy Serkis

Cast: Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Naomie Harris

Release date: 15 September

Est. DCM admissions: 1.2m

Tom Hardy had a ton of fun in Venom, so it’s no surprise that he’s returned for this sequel, which is directed by Andy Serkis. Set over a year after the events of the first film, Eddie Brock struggles to adjust to life as the host of the alien symbiote Venom, who gives him super-human abilities to act as a lethal vigilante. Brock attempts to reignite his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, who also becomes the host of a symbiote and escapes prison after a botched execution. 16-34 men loved Venom. They’ll love Venom: Let There Be Carnage too.
