The Buzz

Building on the legacy of successful musical adaptations, Wicked grossed £54m at the UK box office, holding the title of the biggest opening weekend of 2024 and securing its place as the 3rd most successful film of 2024, just behind Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine. The film also set a new benchmark within its genre, surpassing Mamma Mia! to become the highest grossing adaptation of any stage musical in box-office history. In addition to its commercial success, Wicked delivered significant cultural impact, with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo captivating audiences not only on-screen but during the first film's press tour, which dominated online pop culture—with even more cultural buzz expected for the sequel. Wicked will be one of the best ways for brands to reach an affluent, young-skewing female audience – and is perfectly timed to help maximise reach and cut through for festive campaigns. The first poster has just been released for Wicked: For Good, continuing its presence into 2025 - so it’s likely we can expect consistent buzz before its release on 21 Nov.
