The Weekend Round-up
- Tenet topped the box office for the sixth consecutive weekend, dropping only 3% to gross a further £628k. The film's to date total of £15.9m means it is now the fourth-highest grossing release of 2020, behind 1917, Sonic The Hedgehog and Bad Boys For Life. What a line-up.
- Cats & Dogs: Paws Unite! claimed the No. 2 spot in this weekend’s box office. The third instalment opened with a healthy £456k, evidence that the nation’s favourite pets can work together effectively.
- After We Collided continued its strong performance, dropping 24% to take its cumulative total past the £3m mark. It continues to hold up well and has now entered the Top 15 highest-grossing releases of 2020.
- Bill And Ted Face The Music remained in the Top 5, grossing £147k to clinch the No. 4 spot, and was closely followed by German animation The Elfkins, which opened with £131k.
- Outside of the top five, Sofia Coppola’s comedy-drama On The Rocks opened in No.7 with £90k, ahead of its digital release later this month. The film also had the highest location average of the weekend at £1,554. David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet is at No.7 with £389k, having started its release last Monday.
The overall box office is up 25% from last weekend. It is down 86% versus the same weekend in 2019 when Joker debuted at No.1 with £12.5m followed by Judy opening at No.2 with £1.5m.
