  • Money can’t buy you love or a ticket a ride but it can buy Yesterday second place at the UK box office this weekend, with the British public coming together to take its opening total to £2.91m, having the advantage of running for eight days a week. The romcom has posted a 96% positive recommendation rating on PostTrak, meaning we can expect a strong hold in coming weeks – despite this week’s weather forecast, which is saying nothing but here comes the sun.
  • Aladdin fell to third place over the weekend, adding £622k in its sixth. The film now has a running total of £33.8m and remains the third highest grossing release this year.
  • Men In Black International was down to fourth place in its third week, adding £515k to take its total to £5.99m. It now seems next to impossible for the title to beat Men In Black 3’s final total of £22.3m.
  • The top five is completed by Secret Cinema’s Casino Royale tie-in, which grossed £358k.
  • Outside of the top five, Avengers: Endgame continues to be inevitable, re-entering the top 10 in sixth place with the allure of extra footage.

It remains up 98% versus the same weekend last year, when Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom remained at the top of the chart for the fourth consecutive weekend with £2.9m followed by Ocean's 8 also holding its No.2 position in its second weekend with £2.1m.
