On the hottest weekend of the year in the UK, Wonder Woman held on to make it three weeks in a row at the top by pulling in a further £1.8m at the box office. The DC Comics title now sits on £16.2m.

Having been buried by Diana Prince in its opening weekend, The Mummy remains in second place in its second week by adding £1.1m and bringing its total to £4.9m.

There was no change in third spot as Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge trod water to hang on below the top two newer entrants. After four weeks in cinemas, the fifth film in the successful Disney franchise notched a further £737k and its total now stands at £17.3m.

The tide didn’t turn for Baywatch either, with the beach bods keeping hold of fourth place, adding £514k. It’s now taken just over £8m at the box office.

Completing the top five films in the UK this week is new entrant, Churchill, which pulled in almost £393k (including £9,692 from 8 previews) in its opening weekend, and sixth place was also taken over by a new film, with Gifted, which took £305,323 – including 54k from 121 previews.

My Cousin Rachel was edged down a place from the previous week and now appears in seventh spot, after adding £273k for a new total of £1.5m. The film’s fall-off without previews is 58%.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul also fell one place and is now on a total of £5.1m with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 below in ninth, which added £181k, pushing its total to over the £40m mark.

Another new entrant completed the top 10 with Whitney "Can I Be Me" coming in to take £93,867, including £54k from 147 previews.

Overall the box office was 53% down from last weekend and down by 35% from the same weekend last year.
