On another weekend of glorious weather, coupled with wall-to-wall international football, A Quiet Place Part II held on to the top spot with £1.3m, a drop of 42% from last weekend, which is a very respectable hold. That takes its total to £6.4m, which is the same total the first film was on at the same stage of its run. The first film held up well over weeks three and four to finish on £12.2m.

Peter Rabbit 2 again came in second, falling a chunky 61% to £799k. A steep drop was to be expected though with last weekend featuring the Friday of half term. The family sequel is now up to £13.9m and it still needs another £3.5m to overtake Tenet and become the biggest pandemic-era film.

Cruella ensured the top three was the same as last weekend, adding £732k for a new total of £5.9m. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, stayed in fourth, adding £665k for a new total of £6.8m. It has now overtaken the final total of Annabelle Comes Home, a film from The Conjuring universe, which finished on £6.6m.

Completing the top five, new entry Nobody has yet to make much of an impression, opening with £574k, which includes £198k from previews after opening on Wednesday.  Outside of the top five, The Father, featuring Anthony Hopkins’s Oscar Best Actor winning performance, opened in sixth with £395k, which includes £38k from previews.

Overall the box office is down 41% from last weekend.

Comscore is reporting that there were 736 cinemas open across the UK and Ireland at the weekend, up from 671 last week.
