Cinema owners, operators and all people related to the industry attend CineEurope each year to learn about the latest trends, best technologies, entertainment and services among the industry, to see Hollywood, international, and independent films and product presentations and to network with industry peers.
Some of DCM’s cinemas in attendance this year included Cineworld, Odeon, Vue, Curzon, Everyman and Picturehouse, as well as independents Brunswick Moviebowl, G1 Group, Letchworth Broadway, Merlin Cinemas, Picturedrome Cinemas, Savoy Cinemas, Soho House Cinemas and Uckfield Picture House.

New Developments in Screen Advertising
This year, Digital Cinema Media hosted a panel session on the latest developments in screen advertising, bringing the conversation around cinema advertising to the convention for the first time.
Moderated by DCM’s CEO Karen Stacey, the panel featured an all-star cast, including, Francis Cheang, AV Trading Director of Publicis Media; Hoss Ghonouie, Director of Marketing of Everyman Cinemas; Jean Reddan, Head of Marketing and Communications (Wealth and Retail) of Lloyds Banks and Stefan Kuhlow, CEO of WerbeWeischer GmbH & Co. KG.
The session looked at how cinema is viewed as an advertising platform, as well as discussing some of the ways that changes, including digital conversion, have impacted the sector and the customer experience.
DCM’s Karen Stacey expertly led the conversation, outlining some of the benefits of cinema, including an undistracted targeted audience, a unique environment that offers brand safety, transparency and impact.
Everyman’s Hoss Ghonouie conitnued the conversation, highlighting the power of partnerships as a great way for brands to work with cinema, highlighting the successes of the Everyman Music and Film Festival which partnered with Camden Town Brewery, as well as Max Factor becoming the long-term premium face of cinema.
Stefan Kuhlow discussed why cinema advertising is about reaching the right person in the right context at the right time, before Lloyd’s Jean Reddan outlined part of the bank’s strategy, which “is to build an emotional connection” with its audience, with cinema offering the perfect environment for emotional messaging.
Publicis’ Francis Cheang continued the theme of brand love and emotion, stating he loves the emotion that cinema can bring. “If I want to watch something, I see it on TV; if I want to EXPERIENCE something, I see it in cinema,"
