Cinema admissions have seen a marked 10% increase on the same period last year, boosted by blockbuster features such as Men Who Stare at Goats and the posthumous concert film Michael Jackson's This is It.
According to the latest figures by the Cinema Advertising Association (CAA), the audience figures totalled 14,913,426 - making November 2009 admissions one of the most successful to date.
Films that have ensured the 10% rise include The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the second installment of Stephanie Meyer's teen fantasy that saw queues running around cinemas and looks like continuing the success of the franchise.
Charles Dickens's Christmas classic A Christmas Carol that features an all-star voice cast including Jim Carrey and Gary Oldman is rightly proving a huge success during the festive season, and 2012’s disaster movie plot has proven to be a big hit with cinemagoers.
Fleur Castell, spokesperson at the CAA said: “Cinema is proving its worth to both cinemagoers and advertisers with another very impressive set of monthly figures. The upcoming roll call of Christmas blockbusters should help cement the fantastic year cinema has enjoyed”.
