Karen Stacey, CEO, Digital Cinema Media:
Following the news on Saturday 31 October that England will be entering a new lockdown from Thursday 5 November, our cinema partners will be temporarily closing their sites until the lockdown ends on Wednesday 2 December and DCM will be suspending advertising across its estate during this period.
For all advertisers affected during this period, DCM is offering free cancellations, free deferrals, or a part payment option if the campaign has already started and been partly delivered.
In December we will still be offering all available opportunities to our advertising partners. For those already booked we will continue to offer flexible options while closely monitoring the latest updates from the government, our cinemas reopening strategies and the subsequent admissions available.
While this is undoubtedly a tough time for cinema, from what we have already seen with the strong performance of Tenet in the UK and admissions being up 20% for each of the last two weekends with a particularly strong performance over half term, cinemagoers trust the cinema experience and are excited to watch new content.
We know that despite the ongoing battle against this global pandemic, audiences and advertisers will return to maximise the experience of seeing big movies on the big screen and we know our industry will work together to bounce back from these difficult times.
