On Thursday 11 April, DCM hosted An Introduction to Cinema, a half-day event designed to educate and inspire around the engaging opportunities available in the unique cinema environment.
The morning began with Agency Manager, Emyr John breaking down the key reasons why cinema is the best place for brands, followed by fellow Agency Manager, Samantha Butters with a look at the cinema marketplace and the exciting investment being made in the sector in 2019.
The results from DCM’s latest research project, Mission 16-34: Launch, Land, Impact, were revealed by Research and Insight Manager, Michael Tull, followed by Head of Research and Insight, Sarah Dack taking attendees through the vital role cinema plays on AV schedules.
Agency Manager, Emma Morrisroe then treated guests to a detailed overview of the various avenues of how to buy cinema, before DCM Studios’ double act James Bottomley and Miles Phillip gave an exciting overview of the tremendous creative opportunities that DCM’s creative arm provides.
Attendees were tasked by Agency Manager Bruno McKay with 2019’s live brief, which centred around a fragrance brand targeting 16-34 women. Huge congratulations to team six which included representatives from Blue 449, OMD, Zenith and MediaCom, who triumphed over the competition by paying close attention to the brief and tying in their campaign with the upcoming film slate in order to capture the target market.
The morning was rounded off with an exciting glimpse of the magnificent film slate in 2019 and beyond from Agency Executive Summer Baxter and Agency Assistant Chris Rogers.
Many thanks to the enthusiastic attendees on the morning. An Introduction to Cinema will return in 2020. We hope to see you there.
