Welcome to DCM’s Creative of the Month where we highlight the most spectacular creatives to have graced the big screen during the last month, which use cinema in innovative and unique ways to showcase their content, as voted for by DCM employees.

Looking back on January, there have been numerous advertisers from a variety of categories onscreen, with both existing and new brands spending with cinema. Innocent Drinks debuted their smoothies on 2 January for two weeks, while British Airways showcased their early year sale with a strong offers focused campaign tapping into the full holiday experience on the same date for one week more.

While an honourable mention should go to Renault’s Twingo campaign, a visual feast of colours alternating between a cartoon universe and real life, Sky’s promotion push for their latest drama Fortitude takes the cake for 2015’s first ‘Creative of the Month’, receiving the most votes among DCMers.

Sky’s twelve part drama is a dark, unsettling tale of corruption and murder based in the Arctic Circle, in what is the broadcaster’s biggest attempt to date to show it can match the heavyweight programmes of its US TV counterparts. Preceded by two ten second teasers interspersed in the beginning of the reel with the tag ‘It’s not just the cold that kills’, the gorgeous landscapes and scenery lent the sixty second creative a natural cinematic quality suited for the big screen, with the snowy conditions and blizzards looking magnificent.

A special shout also goes out to a bespoke piece of content that arrived onscreen 23 January, created by BAFTA to raise awareness for this year’s awards, which take place this Sunday 8 February. With a voiceover describing exactly what the judging panel look out for in all nominated films, the 60 second creative is a collage of Hollywood’s most famous faces on the red carpet and accepting awards at previous awards ceremonies. Don’t forget to tune into BBC One this weekend to see who will win this year’s statuettes.
