For the first time since August Tenet failed to top the UK box office and across all films admissions were up 20% week-on-week, despite fewer cinemas being open.

Animated sequel, Two By Two: Overboard! opened in the top spot, something the first Two By Two didn’t manage to achieve and Two By Two: Overboard! will be looking to have a strong half term week.

Liam Neeson thriller Honest Thief opened in second but posted the best Friday to Sunday total. This is the biggest opening weekend for distributor, Signature Entertainment and Honest Thief has a good chance of becoming their biggest film, a title which is currently held by Dreambuilders released back in July.

The new lavish adaptation of The Secret Garden and fourth place this week was taken by Tenet. Another new entry, Pixie, starring Olivia Cooke and Alec Baldwin, completed the top five. Outside of the top five, Hocus Pocus is still the best performing re-release on offer.

Comscore are reporting that the number of sites open in the UK & Ireland this weekend went down to 461.
