Bluepod Media has been reappointed as Digital Cinema Media’s (DCM) Bluetooth supplier and will immediately set about installing the technology into all ODEON cinemas over the next two months. Going forward DCM plan to roll this out to other cinema chains in the second half of the year, taking advantage of the fact that 65% of cinemagoers aged 15-24 say that they would download something for free to their mobile (FAME 2009 research).

Louise Trinder, DCM Creative Solutions Director says: “An integral part of DCM's digital strategy is to ensure Bluetooth is available across all DCM cinemas nationwide to provide advertisers with the opportunity to complement screentime with marketing communications direct to the cinemagoers handset.” Exclusive content, promotions, bar codes, vouchers, WAP links and games can all be delivered in the unique cinema environment.

The ODEON install will make DCM’s cinema Bluetooth network more robust, delivering an average of over 163,000 confirmed unique downloads a month and creating even more value for potential and existing advertisers including Warner, X-Box, Yahoo! and Five.

John Scorah, Bluepod Media UK Managing Director said: “Having launched our model for a networked proximity mobile solution in UK cinemas in 2007, we are delighted that DCM has chosen to retain our services. This is the greatest endorsement of our ability and performance to date and we have been highly impressed by DCM’s insightful and innovative strategy to make mobile a key focus to further monetise their estate.”

Bluepod Media is a mobile marketing agency offering advertisers the opportunity to send their marketing message to consumers who have chosen to receive their content. Using Bluetooth, advertisers can send targeted advertising downloads to customers’ at targeted DCM cinemas across the UK.
