This year’s Film London Distributor Slate Days took place on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September. DCM’s Exhibition Director Steve Davis attended the two-day event, which included presentations from distributors of all sizes, and talks from key industry figures. Read his thoughts and key takeaways below:
"Film London supports talent, develops creativity, and promotes London as a global production hub - in film, television, animation, games and beyond. I was lucky enough to attend their 2023 Distributor Slate Days event last week at the Ritzy Picturehouse Brixton.
The 9th Slate Day welcomed 28 Distributors, who ran us through a staggering 132 films. Taking place over two days, distributors large and small presented their up-and-coming releases. As well as the slate presentations on day one, attendees were also given the opportunity to have one to one meeting with the various studios. It was great to understand what other content is available outside of the mainstream releases.
There are also some really interesting upcoming opportunities to work closely with distributors to create some powerful events to help grow your audiences, your admissions, your box office and cinema advertising revenue!
It was lovely to connect with new people and catch up with old friends - Jonny Tull of Tull Stories getting one of the biggest reactions from Seaside Special.
If you’re keen to find our more and/or want to attend next year, drop me an email at steven.davis@dcm.co.uk and I’ll be sure you’re there in 2024."
