Top Gun: Maverick took the UK box office by storm last year, hitting £83.6m at the box office and delivering almost 7 million DCM admissions. The film, with its spectacular visuals and stunts, proved just why the cinema environment is so special, and that a film like this just has to be viewed on the big screen.

Other hugely successful films in 2022 were Minions: The Rise of Gru, The Batman, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness and Avatar: The Way of Water, which is still continuing to drive huge admissions and revenue for cinema in 2023.

We have a fantastic film slate ahead in 2023 and, as DCM’s proposition is to be ‘Always Looking Forward’, we will be sharing some of the films the DCM team is most looking forward to over the coming weeks.

First up are Agency Managers Calum, Jamie and Jess:

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

Release date: 14 July 2023

Est. industry admissions: 3.2m

16-34 Men TVRs: 13

Tom Cruise took things to a new level in Top Gun: Maverick and from the trailer for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, it’s looking like he’s going take the action one step further in this movie. I can’t wait to experience this film in the cinema, and I’ll definitely be making sure to experience it in a premium format to further heighten the action.

Creed 3

Release date: 3 March 2023

Est. industry admissions: 1.2m

16-34 Men TVRs: 7.1

The stories behind the Creed movies are always excellent. It will be interesting to see this film come to life on its own now that Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) is not a part of the cast. They always bring in big names for these and this time it’s Canelo!

John Wick Chapter 4

Release date: 24 March 2023

Est. industry admissions: 1.5m

16-34 Men TVRs: 9.9

John Wick is back! It’s one of those film franchises that always gets me sitting up in my seat. How much havoc will he cause this time? Plus, I think I’d be that angry if someone killed my dog over a car…

Wonka

Release date: 15 December 2023

Est. industry admissions: 3.8m

16-34 Adult TVRs: 10

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is a childhood classic. We’ve seen how good movies about individual characters have been (Joker and The Batman), so it will be high on the list to see at the end of 2023. The cast for this also looks incredible (Timothee Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Olivia Coleman, Matt Lucas… to name a few)!

Barbie

Release date: 21 July 2023

Est. industry admissions: 2.5m

16-34 Women TVRs: 9

I literally cannot wait for this, growing up Barbie mad I can’t wait to see what the film is all about. At first, I thought it was going to be a family film, so I’m very pleased this isn’t necessarily the case and will do well for that 16-34 audience. The casting is incredible and it’s as if the film and role were made for Margot Robbie. I can’t wait for a total cheese-fest and a bit of nostalgia from my childhood.

Oppenheimer

Release date: 21 July 2023

Est. industry admissions: 2.5m

16-34 Men TVRs: 7

This isn’t usually my type of film but I’m really intrigued by this one! I love anything that’s based on a true story and the mystery surrounding it makes it feel more enticing. Since the first teaser trailer came out last summer, I’ve wanted to know more about it. I think this one could be the surprise of the year. Plus, anything with Cillian Murphy in is a yes from me!
