The Genesis Cinema, Mile End, has just turned 15 years-old. Congratulations to the team!
To celebrate this landmark, the Genesis hosted a week of celebrations from 5 May. The bulk of the celebrations was a carefully selected programme of top movies from the 1990’s, including Being John Malkovich, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Fight Club.
Friday 9 May saw the lately revamped Bar Paragon play host to friends and well-wishers from across the industry, including TV stars Vicky Michelle of ‘Allo ‘Allo!, Deepak Verma (Sanjay Kappor from EastEnders) and many DCM’ers.
Guests were greeted with a champagne reception at Genesis, before a speech from Tyrone Walker-Hebborn, the owner and proprietor of the venue. Tyrone spoke about how he first discovered the site, the support he received from friends and family to realise his vision of returning the venue to its former glory and his love of cinema.
Shortly after the speech, Tyrone invited all in attendance to join him outside the venue, for a very special unveiling, a brand new neon sign for the cinema, to mark the date.

The week was capped off by family friendly days on 10 and 11 May, with face painting, a bouncy castle and more.
