HOME, Manchester, has announced the introduction of a new touring season of films, presented as part of BFI THRILLER.

Entitled States of Danger and Deceit: European Political Thrillers in the 1970s, the season includes 11 gripping titles. Starting on Saturday 4 November, the titles will be available for booking as part of BFI THRILLER until Wednesday 31 January 2018. Titles included in the season range from Fred Zinnemann’s The Day of the Jackal to Francesco Rosi’s The Mattei Affair.

The proposed season will allow audiences to discover and revisit some of the key political thrillers of the period; films that still influence the way in which politically engaged filmmakers engage with popular forms and genres.

Touring speakers available as part of the season include Dr Andy Willis, Professor of Film Studies at the University of Salford and HOME’S Senior Visiting Curator of the season, Adalgisa Serio, Italian Language Tutor and Freelance Language Consultant, and Roy Stafford, Freelance Film Educator.

A key event that Andy Willis can present in tour venues is: One Hour Intro/ Political Thrillers in the 1970s: From Z to Circle of Deceit, an introductory talk illustrated with clips and delivered for beginners in a friendly and open way.

Screenings of Man on the Roof are kindly supported by the Embassy of Sweden in London, who can provide additional support for events related to this title.

Funding is also available for local speakers.
