Cannes-Lions-2014

This year, from 15-21 June, around 11,000 members from 90 countries are coming together to be inspired at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. For the second year, Digital Cinema Media (DCM) is partnering with the Screen Advertising World Association (SAWA).

SAWA established what is now known as Cannes Lions, hosting the first festival in Venice in September 1954 with 187 film advertising entries from the 14 countries competing. The Lion of Piazza San Marcos in Venice formed the inspiration for the coveted Lion trophy. The second Festival was held in Monte Carlo and then in Cannes in 1956, which became the festival’s permanent home in 1984.

SAWA continues to play a unique role in this global event and DCM’s Head of Planning and Knowledge, Blackett Ditchburn, will be presenting at the SAWA seminar – The cinema medium, the portal to the future – on Monday 16 June, 12:00 – 12:45.

DCM’s CEO, Simon Rees, Commercial Director, Joe Evea, and Marketing Director, Zoe Jones, will also be in attendance throughout the week, hosting meetings Monday to Friday at CBeach on the Croisette. If you’re also in Cannes, please get in touch with our Marketing Manager, Anastasia Takis, and come and join us either on Monday night for a World Cup party or during Happy Hour, 4-6pm.

DCM’s popcorn bike, which first made an appearance at Advertising Week back in March, will also be popping up at various locations throughout the week to help rejuvenate Cannes delegates.
