Following the news that over a dozen cinema sites across Greater Manchester showed their support for the victims and families of those affected by the recent terrorist attack in the city through a co-ordinated programme of special Wonder Woman screenings, we can now reveal the final figure raised.

The showings held on Monday 5 June grossed £7,230 (exc VAT), which includes some generous ‘topping up’ by a number of companies.

Cinema companies including ODEON, Cineworld, Vue, Showcase, Empire, The Light, Reel and AMC Cinemas all hosted fund-raising screenings of the new Wonder Woman movie at their respective sites, with the film’s distributor Warner Bros.

In addition, Digital Cinema Media as well as Pearl & Dean, donated the advertising revenue of £900, giving a grand total of £8,130.

Commenting on the arrangement, Paul Lindsay, General Manager of the AMC Manchester, whose team first came up with the idea, said:

“We wanted to show the support of all those working at Manchester cinemas – and of the wider UK cinema industry – for all of those whose lives were touched by last week’s horrific attack. We are proud to make our contribution to such a worthy cause and are grateful to Warner Bros. colleagues for their generous support.”

Tickets for the screenings were available in the usual way from the relevant company websites, and each site ensured collection boxes were available throughout the day for those who wanted to donate additional funds.
