Last Wednesday was similar to how I spend all my Wednesday nights - quick drink then off to see a film with my best mates Jay Z, Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton. Well not quite.
I was lucky enough to attend the Men in Black 3 3D Premiere and at last proved that I was no longer cool in anyway shape or form as I shamelessly gasped and pointed at celebrities throughout the opening 10 minutes of the film.
The night started with a quick speech from the very funny Will Smith who amused the audience with a joke about how big his ears would look in 3D closely followed by Nicole Scherzinger walking 2 feet away from me...oh yeah!
I didn’t have huge hopes for this film after what I thought was a disappointing 2nd Movie, but it appeared I was too quick to judge! The movie really went back to basics and I quickly found myself remembering the reasons the Franchise was so popular the first time around, the storyline was original and surprising and the casting of Josh Brolin as the younger Agent K was uncanny - the film is worth seeing for his performance alone!
Bo Welch's fantastic production and Danny Elfman's score have done well under director Barry Sonnenfeld. While Men in Black 3 does underwhelm compared to the original 1997 flick, this is a much better effort than Men in Black 2.
Men in Black 3 releases today - Friday 25th May.
