After weeks of hard work behind the scenes, the stage was set for Digital Cinema Media (DCM) to host a debate on how Technology In The Future will affect the cinema environment at MindShare’s Huddle event.
In line with Mindshare’s ethos and as part of its communications and events programme, Mindshare hosts an annual Huddle event. Huddle 2013 will be dedicated to “The Future of…”
Over 100 individual Huddles were held to explore the future of media, gaming, social, travel and many other subjects. The aim is to not only get excited about the future, but also think what the implications are in the here and now.
Addressing a packed Huddle session, DCM’s Commercial Director, Joe Evea and Jeremy Kolesar, Sponsorship Lead, were joined by Fearlessly Frank’s Andy Law and MindShare’s Head of Digital Development, Nick Adams, to debate what cinema may look like in 20 years’ time.
Andy Law, Chairman, Fearlessly Frank led the Huddle and commented that: “There will always be a willingness from brands to utilise the big screen! Despite advancements in tech, that won't ever change!”
He went on to add: “Cinema has gone from a 2D experience to 4D & beyond... The consumer journey is here. Now. Brands need to get involved and have fun!”
Introducing the nationwide launch of DCM’s own cinime application, the panel delved into the world of second screen usage in the auditorium. After a demonstration of an interactive quiz for PlayStation, this raised interest in how the technology could be adapted for similar brands.
The demonstration included creatives from E-On and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, showcasing how the cinime app interacts with the big screen using bespoke audio watermarking and image recognition technology to deliver and unlock brand and film-related content on smartphones.
Joe Evea, Commercial Director at DCM, summarised by saying: “Cinime will strive and be defined by working collaboratively with agencies and brands.
