May is a month of nostalgia and a prime time to reach that all-important 16-34 audience. We see the return of another Disney classic and a musical drama based on the life of a music superstar. There's also the return of the king of monsters and the first live-action adaptation of a media franchise.

Detective Pikachu

Target audience: 16-34 Adults

One of the stand-out trailer launches of 2018 was the teaser for this live-action film set in a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, and a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective. The fact that Pikachu is adorable and voiced by Ryan Reynolds gives this adventure a real off-the-wall feel. It could be one of the surprise hits of 2019.
