The old Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue, right next to Piccadilly Circus, is being transformed into a brand new Picturehouse in the heart of London’s West End and is due to open in early summer 2015.

Set to be a unique cinema experience, the cinema will have seven screens and cutting-edge projection capabilities including 4K and Dolby Atmos, as well as 35mm and 70mm film equipment.

The ground floor includes a New York deli-style café and a grand staircase leading up to the first floor, where a café bar overlooks Shaftesbury Avenue. A Members’ Bar is being created on the second and third floors, with a roof terrace and spectacular views over London.

The film and event programme will bring a rich and diverse array of titles to its screens; ranging from quality blockbusters to independent, classic, foreign-language and art-house films. The cinema will also include a core programming strand dedicated to championing documentaries, as well as showing live broadcasts of productions from the world’s best arts venues, such as the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Bolshoi Ballet and New York Met Opera.
