The UK’s National Media Museum and Picturehouse Cinemas have announced a new commercial cinema partnership that will begin on October 30. The partnership sees Picturehouse taking over the operation of the three major screens at the Museum including Europe’s first IMAX screen.
To celebrate introducing IMAX to the UK, on November 7 the opening of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar will premiere at National Media Museum, announcing Its status as one of the few ‘true’ IMAX 70mm film cinemas in the world.
The National Media Museum will play another key role in later November with the release of Hockney, the feature documentary by Randall Wright about Bradford-born artist David Hockney. This special preview, distributed by Picturehouse Entertainment, will launch at National Media Museum followed by a live Q&A with Hockney by satellite from Los Angeles on November 28.
Museum director Jo Quinton-Tulloch said: “Our partnership with Picturehouse Cinemas will ensure the long-term sustainability of cinema on this site.”
