Finally knocking The King’s Speech off the top of the Box Office this weekend was Disney’s 50th animated feature film, Tangled. Grossing £5.1M in its first three days in the UK, it is the biggest opening result of 2011 so far. Box Office last weekend was up an impressive 28 % on the same weekend in 2010, despite Avatar’s huge success in January of last year.
Tangled, Disney’s take on the Brother’s Grimm fairytale Rapunzel, more than doubled the Box Office of Disney’s last animated release, The Princess and the Frog, which began its run just under a year ago with £2.22m.
