Last night, (2 March 2014), The 86th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The brightest stars and sharpest talent in the film industry were in attendance, to celebrate an amazing year in filmic entertainment. In January, DCM launched its inaugural Fantasy Film League, asking media land to vote on who they thought would win on the night. From the 10 categories the FFL was asked to vote on, the following categories were correctly predicted, Best Supporting Actor, Best Animation, Best Foreign Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Picture, giving the DCM FFL an impressive 80% accuracy rate.

Gravity was the big winner on the night, scooping seven awards in total, including Best Director for Alfonso Cuarón, Best Visual Effects, Best Cinematography for Emmanuel Lubezki and Best Sound Editing. Dallas Buyers Club took three awards, including Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto respectively. 12 Years a Slave also garnered three awards, with Lupita Nyong'o winning the Best Supporting Actress award, John Ridley winning Best Adapted Screenplay and also winning the Best Picture gong.

The top 10 entrants to the DCM FFL, scoring a perfect 10 out of 10 and winning a pair of cinema vouchers each, are:

–      James McGregor, Account Manager at MediaCom

–      James Wilby, Investment AD at MGOMD

–      Leon Ho, Account Manager at MJ Media
