The 2023 UK Cinema Association Conference took place at Picturehouse Central on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 March.
The theme of this year was ‘Greening the Big Screen Experience’, with a focus on environmental sustainability and how the cinema industry can play its part.
Sustainability sits high in the list of priorities for cinema audiences, particularly in younger age groups, who are interested in brands’ environmental impacts.
The topic also sits high on the agenda for DCM, and our Exhibition Director Steve Davis joined the panel ‘Screen Advertising: Looking to a more Sustainable Future’ to speak about DCM’s commitment to the Advertising Association’s Ad Net Zero strategy, how the cinema industry can change behaviours to lead by example and influence others to act more sustainably through the cinema medium.
Other conversations that took place during the two days of the 2023 UK Cinema Association Conference included topics of renewable energy, recycling and waste management, and sustainable cinema design, build and operation.
The cinema industry recognises that there is work needed to be done in the sector to create valuable and long-lasting change. The UK Cinema Association Conference is a great opportunity to hold conversations and discuss ideas amongst peers and industry associates, to springboard ideas into action.
