To celebrate the release of Empire of Light, the UK Cinema Association and Searchlight Pictures have teamed up to introduce the UK Cinema Heroes Competition.

Set in an English seaside town in the early 1980s, Empire of Light is a powerful and poignant story about human connection and the magic of cinema, from Academy Award winning director Sam Mendes (1917, Skyfall). The film will be showing in UK cinemas from Friday 13th January.

The UK Cinema Heroes Competition looks to recognise and celebrate those who have dedicated their careers to keeping the magic of the big screen alive for communities up and down the UK. Anyone from the world of cinema can be nominated, from box office staff and cinema managers, to cinema advertising sales and campaign managers.

One winner will be selected by a team of esteemed industry professionals from the UK Cinema Association, Searchlight Pictures and the Empire of Light film-makers, to win a trip to Hollywood. Two runners up will win a pair of tickets to a Searchlight Pictures or Disney red carpet premiere event in London with dinner, travel and accommodation included.

Entries are open now, and will close at 2pm on Monday 9th January.
